The age of
information has begun to unfold. It is providing people with a means to
develop cultural, economic, social, and political initiatives in their
communities. Moreover, it is allowing more and more people to take
control of their own personal development, professional experience, and
mental and spiritual growth.
Maya Explorer
is taking action now in order to be a leader in technological
development and change. We are encouraging people to participate in
technology education programs within Central America. We are trying to
create better living and working conditions for today. One of our main
goals is to encourage those who might not normally have access to
technology with learning opportunities. Although community involvement
is very important, we have focused on groups of women and students. |
 |

We present
people with a creative outlet, a structure to build personal IT skills,
and a support network to further develop on-line cultural information
about the Mayab.
We encourage
our participants to be active. During our orientation week we help them
to recognize their skills and learn how to bring them to their
work-team, and then to the community. The orientation is followed-up by
project work that helps individuals to shape their team identity, an
organized work schedule, and short and long-term goals. The project
work is directed towards creating global awareness about this unique
region of the Maya. The end result of the project work is skills with
email and the world wide web, as well as in the development of
multimedia products.
This process
can prove to be a great challenge that can result in diversified
learning. Our process is set up to help the thinkers of tomorrow
develop their motivation, knowledge, and experience today. |

The outcomes
are clear and simple: Participants will be encouraged to:
-
